TANF funds provide critical and life-sustaining support to children and families living in poverty. The Trump administration's decision to suspend funds already appropriated to the State of New York by Congress will put the lives of our most vulnerable New Yorkers at risk. As the New York State Cash Alliance, we denounce this action and urge our representatives to speak up and act quickly to protect New York families, especially the youngest members of our community. As an Alliance dedicated to advancing unconditional cash policies in New York, we also understand that even means-tested cash supports provide vital support for low-income families in our state and across the nation, and we must protect these programs. We will also continue to advocate for unconditional cash because of its ability to transform the lives of those most in need.
